Loop: Middletown - Springboro - Five Points - Schoolhouse Park - Rice Field - Carlisle - Franklin - Middletown. If this itinerary is ridden in reverse sequence, one-way streets require the following route adjustment in Franklin: Instead of River Street (one-way southbound), ride Main Street (one-way northbound); this will add an extra 0.1 mile on Second Street.

Distance & terrain: 43 miles (68 kilometers); flat to moderately hilly

Hazards: fast traffic and narrow sholders on parts of Social Row, Austin, and Miamisburg Springboro (see shortcut)

Stops: Schoolhouse Park (Washington Tp.), Rice Field (Miamisburg)

Shortcut: To shorten the ride, or to avoid traffic on Social Row / Austin / Miamisburg Springboro, follow Sheehan Road southwest all the way to the Montgomery-Warren County line, and continue on Bunnell Hill Road south to Five Points. Then bear right onto Red Lion Five Points Road, and return to Middletown the same way you left.

Comments: Because there are extended stretches and climbs with little or no shade, two water stops are provided; even so, it would be best not to ride this tour in very hot conditions.
